Osteopathy

How can Osteopathy help you?

Osteopathy is a multi-faceted approach, clinical diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and medical conditions.  It works with the full structure of the body (skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues) and is based on the functioning of all of these together for optimum well-being and health.

Our Edinburgh Osteopath Jordan holds a Master’s Degree from the distinguished British College of Osteopathic Medicine and is a member of Institute of Osteopathy. He aims to empower and educate his clients every step of the way.

What is involved with Osteopathy Edinburgh?

Our Edinburgh Osteopathy treatment may include:

  • Manual Therapy (Muscle and Soft Tissue Release)
  • Assessment and Treatment of Pelvic and Spinal Alignment
  • Exercise and Stretching Prescription/Rehabilitation
  • Bio-mechanical Assessments
  • Taping
  • Spinal and Joint Manipulations
  • Advice and Education
  • Mobilisations

A full medical case history will be taken in your initial appointment, followed by a clinical assessment of your presenting complaint. Additional lifestyle factors such as sleep quality, fitness, recovery, nutrition and behavioural factors as they may be influencing your pain/condition. Once the underlying cause is identified, an individual treatment and exercise programme will be tailored to aid your return to recovery and pain free movement.

The initial assessment session for Osteopathy is 45 minutes and any future follow up sessions will be 30 or 60 minutes. If follow-up massage treatments are part of the recommended maintenance programme, then they may be carried out by one of our Sports/Remedial Therapists as manual therapy is their specialty.

A multi-disciplinary and holistic approach to your health will ensure we can get to the bottom of your issues and provide you with the best care possible. The benefit of having both Physiotherapy and Osteopathy under one roof, is our therapists can refer if needed however both treatments are very similar. Our Physiotherapists and Osteopath do treat the same ailments but with a slightly different approach. If you are unsure which treatment to book, please give us a call or an email. Please note the most important thing is that you see a health professional whether it be a Physiotherapist or an Osteopath rather than seeing no one at all!

If you would like an Osteopathy appointment you can quickly book online, or give us a call on 0131 241 1833 or email on info@bodyworksedinburgh.com.
